Here is just a few of my photos, some of the older ones are a bit blurred but that was how it was back then.
My Timeline is: I was brought up in Birkenshaw, went to Infants/Junior & secondary modern there, left school and worked in Lion stores (Birkenshaw) had a few jobs Brown Bros, Bradford, Bradford Radiators and then moved to Scarborough where I did my nurse training, Qualified in 1972 and moved to Montreal where i worked an Montreal General Hospital for just over a year, moved back to the UK where i worked for 20 years in the Ambulance service, had a back injury so then worked as a sub postmaster in Cleveland before moving to the Isle of Lewis for 13 years - had 3 jobs at once there - weaving Harris tweed, Nursing and working for the Scottish Ambulance Service (thats the way things are in the islands) Moved down to England (Cumbria) after spending 13 years on the islands.
Now retired prior to working as a Staff Nurse & Orthopaedic practitioner at the Cumberland Infirmary.
Thats basically a potted history:
Pictures below include my mum and dad (Alice & Jesse Norton) my Grandma & Grandad (Evelyn & Walter Gledhill) My Sister Beverley, Brother Micheal - lots of my mum & dads friends - a couple of shift mates on the ambulance service (Harold Williams - Dewsbury) (Roger and me on the way to an RTC)
The very bottom photo of me leaning on the ambulance was a very proud day for me when i got my own vehicle - you eventually did then - not so now - In all my career I loved the ambulance service best of all and would be still there were it not for my back injury.
